Sociology, the study of society in general, is one of the most fascinating of all of the social sciences. Would you enjoy helping people lead more fulfilling lives at home or at work? If you decide to earn a Bachelor’s degree in this field, you have a number of choices when it comes to which area you can work in, depending on your personal liking.

If you have a head for business, you may choose to work in sales or marketing. You could study businesses and business owners of both failing and successful businesses. The information you collect will help companies that are struggling and keep successful businesses at their level of production. Although CEOs and small business owners may have great ideas on how to improve sales, they may lack the ability to put those plans into action. This is where your knowledge would benefit both failing and successful businesses. Researching additional information about online Bachelor degrees may be helpful with your quest.

Are you more comfortable working with the employees of a company than with management? Are you interested in what employees have to say about their day-to-day work lives? You could conduct interviews with the employees of successful and failing businesses alike. Using the data you collected, you can come up with a plan to help the employees be more productive, which in turn, will help the business become more productive.

If you are more interested in what makes people buy certain products or use particular services, with your degree in sociology, you may want to conduct customer satisfaction surveys. Pounding the pavement, asking specific questions about the products people buy and why they buy them, would enable you to counsel and advise business owners on ways to attract more customers.

Another part of a successful business today deals with online marketing. You may choose to work in developing a successful e-commerce site, developing personal relationships with customers and prospective customers online. Handling emails, online marketing campaigns, and strategies for online sales would be part of your responsibilities.

Another interesting aspect of the business world is in the consulting and contracting department. Coming up with new ads and new promotional sales ideas for small businesses or big corporations is ideal for those with a creative flair. Working in advertising and sales promotion is a rewarding aspect of business. Developing ads for television or radio may appeal to you, as well as writing copy for the print media. Considering the importance of online degree is a smart move.

If helping the unfortunate appeals to you, you could use what you learned while earning your Bachelor’s degree in sociology to work for a non-profit group. You could help plan events, recruit volunteers, or approach people and companies for donations. Creating material to promote the non-profit organization may be something you would like to do – to let others know about what your group does and how it helps the public.

With online Bachelor degree programs in sociology, you have many opportunities to work in the field of your choice, whether it is working with people in general, or working with employees and business owners. Studying people and devising ways to make their lives easier is a rewarding and challenging career choice. Checking out eLearners Online for more information is a good choice.

You might have noticed when doing some online university degree research that applying to an online college is actually the easiest thing you can do. Now getting that online degree is a whole other story. You’ve just turned from a short distance sprinter to a cross country runner, and that requires a few different skills in order to succeed.

Still, there are those who freeze when they get in front of the computer. Therefore, here’s a few tips on how one can make obtaining that online degree that much easier. Keep them in mind for the next several years, and you will find the workload becomes that much easier.

Yes, you can ostensibly take a class “any time.” Yet when one does go for their next lesson they should keep their fanny firmly planted on their seat until that module is over with. No pausing for pizza. If your favorite pet wants you to stroke its belly, push the furry bugger away. Don’t stop your favorite TV series just went on. Put the show on TiVo or DVR and watch it AFTER you finish that segment.

Next, written communications skills are much more important than oral here. You can’t raise your hand to ask a question. At best you can type it and then wait for a response. Also, make sure to phrase your question clearly and concisely. Not only are writing skills a plus, but so is brevity. The better you phrase your question, the more comprehensive the answer.

Take advantage of your anonymity. Unless the course is an online conference, no one is going to know you haven’t taken a shower yet. Take the course in your jammies and a night robe, if that’s what makes you comfortable. Have your favorite non-alcoholic beverage by your side. You learn best when you are physically comfortable.

Get online three to five times a week per course. People learn best through repetition. There are going to be parts of one class that repeats to the next, but those recaps are in your best interest. Also, just because you are working at home doesn’t mean there isn’t a schedule. New modules tend to come up at about 3-5 times a week. Fall behind and the results are failure.

One thing you probably did a lot of when looking at online degree materials is ask questions. How else were you going to learn? Perhaps one of the most important parts of online learning is to not be afraid to ask questions! If you don’t understand something, if there is a point or reference that doesn’t feel right, ask away. Not only will you get that point clarified, it’s a great way to get your educator’s attention, particularly if you ask well written questions. You’d be surprised how that can pay off as you do the necessary studying to get the degree you want.

Yes, there are about 20 or so more tips about online programs that can be truly helpful , but you can Google them up on your own time. Still, if you start with these few, you’ll be well on your way towards achieving that online degree.

Although before the existence of the information super highway now known as the internet, being able to graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in less than four years was almost impossibility, now it can happen. Could it be that you have heard this fact being advertised, but because it sounded too good to be true, you didn’t even bother to investigate? However, with unemployment through the ceiling with no immediate solution in sight, what are your options for a secure future? Maybe a Bachelor’s degree is worth looking into! The added benefit is that you can return to school without going any further than wherever your computer is located. Understanding online college degrees will help you achieve success.

When you start researching which program will provide you with the necessary education for your field of interest, it is of vital importance that you find out if what is being offered is genuine, especially if it sounds too good to be true. You have to research a school’s credentials, including if it has its accreditation and who it’s from. It must also be maintained and up to date. If a school hesitates when you ask for this information or it gives you a wishy-washy answer, go no further! More than likely you have come across a “diploma mill,” which in no way will give you a valid degree, but will be more than happy to take your money. You can find out which of the accreditation agencies are accepted either on a state level or on a federal level or by searching on the internet.

So now, you are ready to look at the various Bachelor’s degree plans available for your area of interest. You should know that all Bachelor’s degrees have similar structures in that the first two years are for basic academic fundamentals. Depending upon your major, some of these maybe related to your degree; however, most will be of similar nature. These will be classes in English Composition, history, math, and social science, just to name a few. Take note of online courses to begin learning valuable skills.

Fortunately for the returning student, schools have come to recognize that some of these abilities and education can be obtained from other sources and also being a part of the workforce for an extended period of time. For this reason, “Credit for Life Experience Program” or CLEP was introduced as a way to prove your level of understanding for various topics. Ask the institution that you are considering if it offers these before you enroll into one of its programs. It is permitted for any undergraduate degree that students may take and hopefully pass up to 30 semester hours of credits. What it means is if you successfully take a topic-specific CLEP exam, you will be granted the associated credits for that course, without having to take it. It is also a wonderful way to reduce your tuition expenses and knock a year off the time required to earn your degree!

In addition to testing out of several classes, you can also look for a degree plan that offers both asynchronous classes and synchronous classes. For students who are confident in their ability to maintain self-discipline for their courses, an asynchronous program will provide the student the ability to work at his or her own pace. This is especially beneficial for the student wanting to accelerate the completion of each course in order to reach graduation sooner.

It is however, advised that returning students with no prior experience in online classes take the first semester in synchronous courses because they are more structured and have a set classroom time each week.

At this point, you have decreased the time needed for you to earn your Bachelor’s degree by either a year or more. There is still one more way for you to shorten it even further, and that is by continuing your classes all year long. Most degrees are calculated in semesters, and there are two semesters in a year with the summer off for vacation. So if you take no breaks or vacations, you can actually complete four semesters in a year, instead of just two!

In the end, what you thought would take four long years to complete has taken only two years! Find and enroll into an online Bachelor’s degree program, which will lead you to that job you thought you would never be qualified for. Enrolling in online degree programs lets you enter the workforce sooner. Choose the college that meets your educational needs at EarnMyDegree Online.

In 2007-2008, tuition at independent colleges averaged nearly $24,000 a year; public university tuition was about a quarter of that (for in-state students), and community college tuition cost most students a little under $2,500 annually.

In recent years, four-year college tuition has risen at about 6.2% a year, while two-year college costs have increased about 4.5% annually. In most instances, available aid has increased as well.

And, you should apply for some of that aid.

Approximately 2/3 of students receive federal aid each year. This aid comes in the form of grants and subsidized loans. The average student attending a two-year institution received $2,040 in such aid in 2007-2008. The average student at a four-year public institution received $3,600, and students attending four-year colleges were awarded, on average, $9,300 in federal aid.

The amount of federal grant aid and subsidized loans for which a student is eligible is calculated after an analysis of the information provided on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which students applying for federal aid programs are required to file.

Other kinds of scholarships also require students to have a completed FAFSA, so be sure to get yours taken care of as quickly as you can.

College and university financial aid offices will gladly help you apply for federal, state, and other kinds of financial aid. And, don’t forget the wealth of financial aid and scholarship information you can find on the internet. Just try a search for “financial aid”, “college scholarships” or “scholarships” and you’ll see.

When filling out your FAFSA, you’ll be asked to provide information on income and assets. If you are a dependent student, you’ll also need to answer questions about your parents’ finances. Either way, the questions are very straightforward.

Although you can use a paper application, filling out the FAFSA online is far easier for lots of reasons. And, completing the FAFSA online makes it easier for you to track the process.

That’s it. Forget about the horror stories you may have heard. Just complete your FAFSA carefully and on time and you’ll have no problems at all.

The author is a university history professor and the author of two books and more than two dozen published articles. He has also conducted research on online colleges and online degree programs for working professionals.

Your college years are unique in and of themselves, but where you decide to live during this time goes a long way towards defining your college experience. For some of you, living on or off campus is a clear-cut decision, while others may not be so clear on where their heart lies. Below are some things for you to consider while trying to decide where to live:

1. Price comparisons: While living on campus might seem more expensive at first, there are other costs to consider when renting an off-campus apartment or house to share with other students. For starters, there’s a gas, electric and cable bill that will roll around every month. Don’t forget the cost of eating, as well. While meal plans for on-campus cafeterias might lead to sticker shock, have you been to a supermarket lately? If you life off campus, you’ll have a kitchen to stock, as well. One more thing to think about is the cost of getting to and from classes every day. If you drive, there are gas and parking costs as well.

2. How will my mailing address impact my social life? A lot. If you choose to life away from campus, chances are, you’ll also be somewhat removed from the spontaneity of the social life in the heart of the university. For some students, that could be a good thing, while others would miss the energy involved in living among other like-minded people. You’ll need to ask yourself if you are the type of person who requires privacy and down time. Apartment living would provide more space when it comes to bathrooms and sleeping arrangements, but would likely lack in the social department.

3. Academic support. Living on campus makes it easier to join study groups. There are always extra lectures or lab schedules available and living on-campus makes it much easier to take advantage of the added support. Even making it to class during bad weather is easier the closer you live to that classroom. During finals week, you might want to take advantage of the library’s extended hours and living off-campus could make that difficult.

4. The overall college experience: While it won’t really matter how much fun you had in college twenty years from now, where you end up living has a pretty big impact when it comes to ‘experience collecting’ in life. While you’re probably a little young to start writing your ‘bucket list’, some would consider a full on-campus college experience to be among the things they want to do during their lifetime. Others, however, want to get that degree and move onward to higher earning.

As you can see, there are clear advantages in both scenarios. There is an option that might present the best of both worlds if you’re still on the fence. Most college towns have apartment, house, duplex or even condo rentals within walking distance of the heart of lecture halls, shopping and night life. It might serve you well to look into these as well.

An introductory business course can be useful for a variety of people in a variety of roles and situations from college students trying to decide on a major to business owners looking for ways to improve their practices, and nearly every situation in between. The breadth of topics covered the introductory course is sure to grant some useful insight.

Those who have made this academic major their goal in school can learn what to expect in future courses by taking an introductory course. They will learn basic concepts and theories that will be reinforced through the course of their program of study. If the introductory course does not interest them, or they are not able to follow the ideas and concepts well enough, they may decide that this major is not the proper choice for them. Students may also find a specific area in the field that interests them, which may lead to a more specific major, such as accounting or finance. Analyzing the value of business school courses will benefit you on your journey.

The single parent who is considering starting a small business may choose to enroll in an introductory class to determine if he or she has the necessary skills to do so. Learning about different styles of management and the basics of finance, marketing, and accounting can help give these potential business owners more perspective on what running a business really entails.

Even students who have no intention of majoring in this field may benefit from taking the class, as they will gain a more thorough understanding of how different types of businesses operate. This will be useful information when they enter the job market; they will already have some idea of what to expect from the organization in which they are employed.

Students of politics, international relations, and other courses of study that deal with how different societies interact can also benefit from an introductory class. Economic policies and international trade practices affect the interaction of not only businesses, but the countries that have a stake in the livelihood and profits of these businesses and these topics can grant valuable insight into the relations between nations.

Current business owners seeking some insight into how to run their businesses better and more efficiently might also do well to consider the class. Through learning about such topics as management information systems, they may find ways to reduce the volume and time of paperwork involved in running a business. By studying various forms of ownership, they may find that there is a better way to meet the needs of their particular business. The internet is a good resource for more details about graduate degree.

People who have an idea for a business plan or a product that they would like to market, produce, and sell may also find useful information in an introduction to business course. They will learn basic concepts that can help them to decide if they are prepared to make the leap into the business world, or if they may need assistance from other professionals to accomplish their dreams.

Whether one is curious about the workings of business in general or has a specific purpose and goal in mind, this college course online can help to meet many needs. The basics of business concepts alone or as part of your degree program, covers such subjects as marketing, finance, accounting, management styles, information systems, and more can only add to an individual’s understanding of business.

If people trust and respect you, if they tell you their deepest, darkest secrets, or come to you frequently for advice, you might consider a counseling degree. As with any career, of course, it’s important that you enjoy the work that’s involved. If you’re really good at what you do, then that’s a huge plus!

Because the state in which you plan to work might require a Master’s degree, you might find that it takes several years to enter the profession and become established. Some states – and some counseling careers – also require credentials, such as certifications and licenses that counselors maintain by continuing their studies. On a physical and emotional level, it’s important to consider too that helping others who have problems can take a lot of energy.

At the same time, employment prospects for counselors are expected to be favorable. It was highly anticipated that employment for counselors who held more than 600,000 jobs in 2008 was to grow faster than the average for all occupations. Some of the reasons for this are: mental health services are expected to increase for the disabled, injuries and disabilities are expected to accompany an increasing elderly population, and rehab counseling is beginning to become more common for drug offenders than jail. Learn more about education degrees if you are interested in this.

Once you obtain the right credentials and counseling degree, you might expect to find yourself working with patients who have needs in one particular area or those who have several needs. Some people turn to counselors after they have experienced some type of trauma. Others seek out help related to schooling or their careers or relationships.

This is one of the reasons that counseling degree programs can be varied. Students who are considering working toward these degrees are likely to find them in everything from addictions or substance abuse to elementary or secondary school counseling. There are degree programs also in areas such as clinical mental health, marriage and family therapy, and gerontological counseling. As part of these different types of degree programs and others, students might take courses in career development, diversity, growth and development, and professional ethics. There are certain “codes of ethics” that counseling licenses and certificates require.

As of 2008, the median annual wages for counselors were between about $31,000 and $51,000, depending upon the area of specialty. The median wages for rehab counselors were on the lower end of the spectrum, while those for educational, vocational, and school counselors were on the higher end. Advancement opportunities might exist in areas such as education, research, administration, or in a supervisory capacity. One’s salary may also depend on his or her level of education. Search online for more about online college courses and your knowledge of this will increase by much.

If you’re considering a counseling degree, you might contact state and local governments and potential employers to find out what the degree and credential requirements are. Credentialing agencies can also shed light on what’s required in terms of certification, two of which are the National Board of Certified Counselors and the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification.

To help pay tuition, students who want to pursue college degrees might seek out grants and scholarships that might be available. Working professionals might also find that their employers are willing to reimburse them for education-related expenses, including any education associated with continued credentialing. Learn more about this from eLearners.

When it comes to state grants, Utah’s predominantly conservative nature comes out in spades. Its collegiate financial aid programs tend to lead more towards scholarships than need-based financial aid, also known as true grants. The state is currently looking to cut them back as you read this. So, this is how they stand at the present.

The primary grant program is in conjunction with the federal Leveraged Educational Assistance Program (LEAP). This program works on the principle that the federal government allocates money to a number, but not all, of the colleges and universities inside Utah, and it is up to them how they are parceled out. At present, the maximum award for a LEAP grant is $2500 per year, but it tends to average more at $450 per year.

The other main grant is the Centennial Opportunity Program for Education (UCOPE). It is open to all undergraduate college students and can range anywhere from $300 to $5,000 a year. Apparently, the number of grants handed out are limited and given out on a first-come, first-serve basis. Staying up to date on the latest information about online college classes will work in your favor.

A more specialized grant is the Utah Educationally Disadvantaged Program. It targets the blind, hearing impaired or similarly physically handicapped who still deserve advanced education. Besides filing out their FAFSA, applicants must also provide academic transcripts and maintain what is deemed progress in their education to get renewals. If qualified, the recipient can get his or her entire tuition waived. At the same time, the state senate is talking about killing this plan.

One area that Utah is a lot more generous in is its TH Bell Teaching Incentive Loan. A loan forgiveness program, it will accept any undergraduate who decides to pursue a degree tract that ends up with a teacher’s certificate. The state will cover the entire tuition as long as the student does two things: maintains acceptable grades and actually gets that certificate and then teaches in an under-served, generally a poor urban or rural educational district for a predetermined number of years. Manage to get through everything, and the loan is completely forgiven!

From the way Utah has set up its grants, one should definitely look into federal programs for financial assistance. There are more than just the Pell Grant and SEOG out there. For example, there is the Horatio Alger Utah Program. To qualify, a student needs a minimum 2.0 grade average, letters of recommendation, and proof of financial need. The most critical element is the completion of an essay explaining how you overcame some obstacle in your life. If accepted, the award can be as high as $5,000. Keeping abreast of the latest information about universities may mean quicker success.

Another thing a student should do is some research. One should approach his or her college’s financial aid officer to see what these professionals might know. Also, a student should never ignore smaller, private organizations, ranging anywhere from a church to private societies like the American Legion.

Therefore, the best idea is to get on the web and do research for more sources of income for your online classes through online schools. Meeting with a college financial aid officer will also go far in keeping loans to a minimum.
